I will be playing new songs, new instrumentals, and a few covers in an intimate House Concert in Loveland the evening of May 30 after a potluck supper. SkyScape Concerts is an amazingly fun and beautiful venue for performances. We have seen great performances there.
Several times a year, Cyndi and Bruce Gueswel host local and traveling musicians at their sculpture studio (with removable roof). I am fortunate to be one of the acts for 2020.
Address: SkyScape Concerts at 5208 Lonetree Drive, Loveland Colorado. There is no ticket price for these concerts, but Cyndi and Bruce ask for donations, and all of the money goes to the performers.
Mark your calendar. Come enjoy good food, good laughs, and good music. Potluck starts at 6:00. Music starts at 7:00. I’m looking forward to it.
On October 13, 2019 I played for 3 hours at a house concert event to celebrate 20 years of Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV)! WRV is a Colorado non-profit that organizes volunteers each year to complete more than 100 wildlands conservation projects in Colorado and southern Wyoming. Their mission is to heal the land while building community dedicated to the care of natural resources. They have an impressive list of completed projects.
Everyone is welcome to volunteer with this organization. Goto wlrv.org/volunteer to learn more about these opportunities.
I played to a backdrop of beautiful artwork at the Carnegie Center for Creativity in Fort Collins, Colorado. A list of the artists are posted on the flyer below. Watch for these artists again in August 2020! Thanks to the folks that came and listened to me play originals and covers.
I will be playing my original instrumentals and songs during the Opening of Erika Osborne’s Exhibit. This is a members only event.
Erika, who is an Art professor at Colorado State University, paints, draws, sculpts, and uses multi-media to address environmental issues, emphasizing the American West. Her work is beautiful and thought-provoking. You can see it at her website: https://erikaosborne.com
I will play from 6-8pm and take a break when Erika speaks at 7pm.
Friday, May 3rd from 6-9pm is the Fort Collins Gallery Walk so put on your walking shoes. Make sure to stop by the Old Town Art and Framery at 173 North College Avenue to see a Father and Daughter Art Show (Eccher and Eccher: see images above ). I will be playing live music as a back drop to this fun event from 6:30-9pm.
I played to a backdrop of beautiful artwork in March during the First Friday Art Walk in Old Town, Fort Collins, Colorado. I performed two hours of original songs at the Old Town Art and Framery. I will play there again on the first Fridays of April and May. Drop by for art and music. Clint Eccher will be there and happy to talk with you about his paintings. You can see several of his stunning pieces in this photograph. Check out his beautifully crafted website https://www.clinteccher.com.
A nice evening with Haley and Franklin and lots of art and music supporters. Thanks for listening. I enjoyed playing to a backdrop of intriguing paintings.
I will be performing original music based on the Haley Hasler art exhibit now showing at the Fort Collins Museum of Art. Come listen and walk among Hailey’s paintings.
My friends, Robbie and Dale, asked me if I would be willing to do a house concert to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, friends, and neighbors. I agreed to do my first house concert! The evening had a distinct autumn chill but Robbie and Dale had small woodstoves set up with fires to keep the audience warm. The evening went really well and I enjoyed it. Robbie and Dale have lovely friends and neighbors.
I was happy to play a set of songs for a Dine'tah (Navajo Nation) fundraiser in Fort Collins, on January 25. All the proceeds went toward Dine organizing. The event was held in the beautiful Cloverlick Banjo Shop, filled with young passionate folks that had gathered to listen to presentations from the recent caravan to the Black Mesa region. Hope filled the space. If you are interested in donating money to this effort to respect land and people, let me know so that I can put you in touch with these folks.
On January 5, I kept a New Year resolution for 2018 to perform my songs locally. I played at Starry Night Cafe in Fort Collins, Colorado for a bunch of friends and some tea-sipping strangers. Thanks, friends, for supporting me with your smiling faces and hearty applause. I played mostly covers and a few originals. I will play at this cafe again on April 6, 7-8pm. Come for the good tea, desserts, happy faces, and free music!
I had the honor to play a series of my instrumental guitar pieces on August 4, 2017 for the 2nd annual EXPRESSIONS Art Exhibition that featured the work of Steve Germaine, Kay Dudek, Steve Grey-Wilson, Nelia Harper, Patty Hughes, Jennifer Spencer, Christine M Torrez, and Laura G Young. I wrote all of the instrumentals explicitly for this wonderful exhibit at the Carnegie Center for Creativity in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Many Death Row inmates in the U.S. have been found innocent and set free. How many? 158 and counting. The Equal Justice Initiative's legal team is responsible for some of those releases. This group also fights for justice in other ways. They are raising awareness about the history of lynching, which occurred in the Deep South and in the North. (My song "North Country Too" tells of a case in Minnesota.) In 2018, the Equal Justice Initiative will open The Memorial To Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, allowing us to learn and remember the regrettable truth about lynching.
This song chronicles my dissatisfaction with my living situation at the time, a situation I wanted to escape, but a situation I realized I could not escape by physically leaving. I had to transform how I thought about the situation. I had to abandon my concern with my being treated unjustly. I had to begin practicing a deeper, more difficult, type of love, toward someone who did not deserve love.
